- Amorebieta WWTP
In addition to 9 kilometres of wastewater and rainwater piping, the primary network has four main pumping stations –Arriagane, Urritxe, Zubieta and Euba– that channel the wastewater toward a general pumping station in the Astepe industrial park, from where it is sent to the wastewater treatment plant. The Astepe WWTF receives wastewater generated in more than 90% of the municipality.
The contract also covers the operation and maintenance of the WWTP at Dudea, a small facility that provides service to the neighbourhood of the same name. Its geographical location makes it impossible to send its wastewater to the Astepe WWTP.
It is the second time in a row that ACCIONA Agua has renewed the contract for the Amorebieta facility.
This project upgrade will increase capacity from 4.1 Million Litres per Day to 8.5 Million Litres per Day for those living in Kingsborough, Tasmania.
The contract includes the construction and subsequent operation of the world's largest waste water treatment plant, located in Atotonilco, in the state of Hidalgo.
