INTRODUCTION
Acciona Agua Australia and BMD have been selected by TasWater as the preferred bidder for the design and construction to the existing Blacksman Bay Sewage Treatment Plant which is valued at A$39M.
The existing sewage treatment plant has been operating for 30 years and is at its end of its service life. An upgrade will be needed in order to accommodate the future growth in Kingborough. This upgrade will increase capacity from 4.1 Million Litres per Day to 8.5 Million Litres per Day.
The upgrade to the sewage plant will include construction to earth works, new roadways, new buildings and new tanks as well as equipment installation and commissioning. An Environmental Management Plan will be required before construction in order to evaluate site management, erosion control, air quality, flora and fauna, noise management, and traffic management.
