ACCIONA is one of the leading companies in the private development of infrastructures worldwide, both in terms of number of projects and turnover. It has accumulated experience of 40 concessions down through its history, since its first PPP project in 1861 (Compañía del Ferrocarril de Medina a Zamora y de Orense a Vigo).

Through its Concessions business line, ACCIONA takes charge of the private development, design, construction, financing, management, operation and maintenance of infrastructures, based on a global focus that is fully tuned in to local needs and peculiarities.

At present, it manages a portfolio of 17 concessions distributed around Spain, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil, including roads and motorways, railways, social infrastructure, irrigation canals and ports.

Since 2000 it has obtained over 30 international awards, the most noteworthy in recent years being for the Sydney Light Rail (“Best Project Finance Deal – Australia & New Zealand 2015” from FinanceAsia, “Asia Pacific PPP Deal of the Year 2015” from Infrastructure Investor and “Asia-Pacific PPP Deal of the Year 2015” from PFI), the Toowoomba Motorway in Australia (Asia-Pacific Road Deal of the Year 2015 from PFI, Asia-Pacific Road Deal of the Year 2015 from IJGlobal and Partnership Gold Award - Best Road Project 2016), and the A-30 Autoroute in Canada (Premio Internacional de Obra Pública Agustín de Betancourt 2015) and the Autovía de la Plata in Spain (Europe & Africa Refinancing Deal of the year 2015 from IJGlobal).
