ACCIONA wins “Best Contract of the Year” in the iAgua 2020 awards for the Shuqaiq III desalination plant

ACCIONA’s Water Division won three prizes in the 6^th edition of the iAgua Awards. On this occasion the prizegiving ceremony took place on April 29^th in virtual form.

The Shuqaiq III desalination plant, currently under construction, has won the “Best Project of the Year” prize. Last year ACCIONA, together with its three partners -Marubeni Corporation, Almar, and Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Co-, was awarded the contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the plant over 25 years. The facility will supply a population equivalent of over 1.8 million. Located on the Red Sea coast with a capacity of 450,000 m³/day, it will be one of the biggest in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, Alejandro Beivide, Director of Digitization and Control Systems of ACCIONA’s Water Division, was awarded the iAgua prize for “Best Blog of the Year”, a space dedicated to digitization and the application of new technologies to the water industry.

For her part, Elena Reyna, Communication and Marketing Director of ACCIONA’s Water Division, was awarded a prize in the “Woman of the Year” category, a new section that recognises advances in areas such as equality within the water sector.
