The plant will initially provide drinking water to 138,000 people, a number that can be increased to 300,000 people in the future.
In addition to the DWTP and the supply main, ACCIONA Agua will build several raw water pipelines, a pressure piping line, six new regulating tanks and a pumping station.
The entire supply system will be upgraded, which will entail developing a large drinking water supply network for the towns of Bani, Paya, El Fundo, Matanzas and Arroyo Hondo.
A Joint Venture formed by ACCIONA Agua and the local companies Jardine Electric Control Philippines (JECP) and Frey Fil are responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Putatan Water Treatment Plant 2.
The Mundaring Water Treatment Plant is the major source of water for over 100,000 consumers connected via rural and town services that comprise the Goldfields and Agricultural Water Supply Scheme. The potable water network spans from Mundaring Weir in the Perth Hills to Kalgoorlie and considered to be the longest fresh water supply scheme in the world.
