Technical development and museographic implementation
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) has carried out the exhibition fit-out works of the museum to recreate Oman’s culture heritage. The exhibition covers around 4,000 square meters distributed in 14 permanent gallery spaces with more than 250 showcases for around 5,500 artefacts arranged thematically and chronologically.
The replicas of real-life sized Omani historical vessels, and multiple smaller-sized models, provide the museum with the country's own maritime identity. The visit ends with a wheeled 4K ultra-high definition (UHDTV) audio-visual display, which is projected on an 8.3-megapixel screen located in the museum's theatre.
As part of its commitment to “Social Innovation”, the National Museum of Oman is the first museum in the Middle East to be adapted to the needs of the visually impaired and the first one in Oman to provide full access for persons with reduced mobility.
